The Barriers

Social Support/Child Care

Relationships with family and friends play an important role in patient wellness and helps patients cope with their cancer. Support groups and social worker help can have a massive impact on their experience of their management.

“I would like to know from someone with a similar diagnosis who went through it already what can be expected and what I can do to prepare. No scary stories, just a dependable source of support. I don’t know what to believe.”

“There is still a stigma attached to breast cancer in the community, and sometimes these beliefs demotivated me to come to the clinic, because people treat me as if I am terminally ill. I would appreciate it if healthcare workers could give a talk/ refer support groups that could increase the awareness and support of other people with breast cancer”
